hi, i was on bcp since july. but havent been takin it on time. last oct 22,i had sex which is the 4th day of my so called period (its withdrawal bleeding right?) . i should have started a new pack again last oct 21st but forgot & took 2pills on the 22nd. we had withdrawal and we did it while taking a shower. ive missed taking pills again on the second week which i took the following day. i just had a home pregnancy test (nov 5) and it says negative. is there a possibility of me being pregnant? i need your expert opinion. thanks!

i said that it was so called bleeding because i believe that when you are on bcp its not a real period but what they called withdrawal bleeding. it is a normal flow as what i had before. and i havent had sex prior to oct 22 so the bleeding i had during that time cant be implantation bleeding.my concern is if there's a chance of me ovulating that time because i was on 7 free days before it happened. and i missed takin the pill of the first pack on oct 21.and i have not been takin them on time. so im worried that i can get pregnant because im not protected anymore.

Then I would say you're probably not pregnant since you were infertile at the time.

I'm experienced with Fertility Awareness. I've learned that you are not fertile for the first 5 days of your period, after which you could be fertile depending on what vaginal fluid is like. But you say it was a so-called period? Was it a period? If it was light, maybe it could have been implantation bleeding after ovulation. If that's the case, then there's a possibility you are pregnant.

Hi Anonymous,

If you had unprotected sex on October 22nd, then you need to wait at least another week before testing for pregnancy. Even though you have not been taking your birth control pills on time, you are still partially protected against pregnancy. How protected? We can't really say.

You can take another pregnancy test within a week but if you want a more accurate test, wait until your next "period" is due and if it is late, then test for pregnancy.

Best,

Rosa
