Q:

Pregnant?

We didn't have penetrative sex but we "fooled around" a little less than a month ago. A little more than two weeks after the incident I got my period (a few days earlier than my normal day of the month). It was normal in terms of heaviness but it only lasted 3 days ( my normal is 4-5 days). Could this be implantation bleeding? is it even possible I'm pregnant?

Thanks!

Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to our community with your question.

No. I do not think this was implantation bleeding. Some women experience implantation bleeding once the fertilized egg implants in the lining of the uterus. Implantation bleeding is pink or brown spotting, that never increases to a flow, occurs about 6 to 12 days following conception and lasts about 2 to 3 days.

You were not at risk for becoming pregnant if you didn't have vaginal intercourse with penetration and ejaculation.

I cannot offer a reason why your period lasted only 3 days. I suggest you speak with your gynecologist if you are concerned.

Regards,
Maryann
