I am on my period from yesterday but I have some symptoms- fever from 2 days, back pain and sore throat. I vomited 5 times in one day, whenever I tried to eat yesterday. I am sexually active and also take contraceptive pills regularly in time after that. Can I be pregnant and still have my period?

Guide

Hello mounika133,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. I am glad you reached out to us with your concern.

It sounds like a gastroenteritis, which is an infection of the digestive tract, or a virus.

Fever, back pain, sore throat and vomiting are not signs of pregnancy. If you have been taking your daily birth control pill at the same time each day, there should be no risk of becoming pregnant.

If these symptoms persist. please reach out to your primary care physician. In the meantime, drink fluids, if you can keep them down. Water, chicken broth and tea are good choices.

Regards,
Maryann
