Question about mosquito repellents...anything new out in the stores?

I just bought the Clip-On mosquito repellent, excited for my son to use while outdoors. He is a mosquito-magnet (!), and I don't like using DEET on him..although this is the only product that actually seems to work. (I spray his clothes with DEET, then just dab a few drops on his forehead with my hand, and wash it off thoroughly when we come indoors). I really dislike the idea of putting pesticide on him, especially when we are so careful to consume organic produce and other foods, use environmentally-friendly products, etc.

The problem with the Clip-on (OFF! brand), is that it is NOT suitable for children, and actually sounds worse than the spray mosquito repellent, as it sprays the repellent into the air, and there are huge warnings not to inhale the fumes. With it's "head to toe protection", I'm not sure how you would not inhale the odorless fumes...sounds scary!

There are so many insect/mosquito repellent products on the market, many of the "natural" ones that do not actually work. Have you found a product that DOES work for adults and children who are playing in the yard (ie, not able to sit by a citronella candle)?

thanks!
