rare mensural period

i started my period at the age of 10 and never had it regularly. it would come one in 2/3 months. when i turned 16, it disappeared for 7 years and appeared for 2 consecutive months then disappered for 3 years and reappered for one month in August 2009. since then i havent had it. i lost a lot of weinght then when i was 16 it has been very difficult for me to reach the point where my body can sustain my period. any advice before i go to the gynae

I think you hit the nail on the head by mentioning the weight loss. That definitely is enough to trigger a missed period but 7 years is a long time.

There are several reasons for a missed period, including an increase in exercise, or change in diet. Since the weight loss have you been getting enough nutrients?

It's good that you're going to see a doctor, as he/she will be able to more accurately pinpoint the reason and hopefully get this this figured out!
