Really strange period and pain..

So through out my life I haven't exactly been regular, as in, it isn't uncommon for my period to just not come one month. However, things have changed over the past few months. The month of May was missed entirely. Beginning the 6th of June, I had spotting. Mostly brownish in color. Then as the days passed the spotting got heavier and was red. The spotting hasn't stopped however. It's heavier in the morning, and then occurs periodically through out the day. My lower abdomen is very sore, similar to how a bruise feels sore. Have also been getting cramps when the flow is heavier. I feel really terrible and I'm kind of freaked out honestly... Idk what to do? **I know that I am not pregnant, so that isn't causing this** i'm in the process of locating a reputable gyno, but am at a loss for a solution until then..

Hi Anon,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community.

Although you are use to having irregular periods, it sounds like lately the characteristics are more than what you are use to. I know you are trying to locate a gynecologist, but I would urge you go get a pelvic exam asap. The soreness in your abdomen and cramps when your flow is heavier is concerning. Don't wait too long before being seen by a medical professional.

I hope this helps.

Be well,
