Hi Jenny

Thanks for your question!

It's not bad to eat red meat. The issue with red meat is the over-consumption of it, which is not good. Over-consumption of most things is not a good idea.

Red meat is not necessary for good health. But many people enjoy burgers, steaks and the like and red meat is a good source of protein, iron and other nutrients.

But red meat is also linked with many kinds of cancers, including colon cancer, heart disease, diabetes and much more. Over consumption can also cause a build up of toxins and undigested food in your body.

You may want to limit your red meat consumption to once or twice a week.  Chicken and fish are excellent alternatives for protein and other nutrients - and a vegetarian diet is also an idea to think about.  However, there is no real need to give up meat completely. I also recommend you ONLY eat grass fed organic red meat.  The meat industry isn't exactly known for feeding it's animals highly nutritious foods or treating cattle humanely. Make sure you know where your meat is coming from and locally sourced, organic is best.
