I admit it-I'm a man-using a woman's website for help. REcently I learned I have HPV. I have heard that often but not always the body on its own destroys the virus within 2 to 3 years. How would I, a man, know if the virus is gone? I get no pap smears. Is there a blood test? Second are there substances I can take to hasten the demise of the virus. I would be grateful for answers to these questions. thanx D

Hi Anonymous,
Thank you for your question. There is no sure for HPV and you will always carry the virus although, it can lay dormant. The main way that men will show the virus is by warts. Women need to be checked as we can carry the virus inside the vaginal area which can also cause cervical cancer. If you don't show symptoms, this does not mean that the virus is gone. You will have to keep regular doctor appointments (yearly) in order to be checked for the active virus.

I hope this helps.
