I have had headaches previously. Over the past yr and a half, i have had what i call "brain pain". Pains in my head(sometimes both sides). I have no dizziness, weakness, blurred vision or anything else. Had two dilated and clear eye exams over this time. Does not stop me from any activities. Does throb at times also. Scared to death of a brain tumor. I also have constant runny or stuffy nose and prone to sinus problems. Please Help!!!

Hello Anon,
Thank you for your question and for choosing EmpowHER!
I am sorry to hear that you have been having such bad headaches! I am glad that your symptoms are not affecting your normal activities, but living with pounding headaches is very uncomfortable.
Chronic headaches are likely to be related to other, less serious conditions like migraines, allergies, or common vision problems. Since you have had your vision checked, it is safe to say that you've ruled that out. You could be experiencing migraines or having sinus headaches.
According to the research that I did, headaches are not the first sign of a brain tumor. Symptoms such as seizures, changes in vision or hearing and or weakness of the arms and legs are typically the first sign of a brain tumor. Since you are not experiencing these conditions, I am left to believe it is something less severe like bad allergies, a food allergy or migraines.
Have you discussed these symptoms and your concerns with your doctor? Always a doctor's exam and diagnosis is the best.
If I were you, I would make an appointment with your doctor and see what he or she has to say. Your doctor might refer you to an allergist to test you for food sensitivities and environmental allergies. It could be was simple as eliminating a particular food from your diet or taking a nasal spray to help with the headaches.
Again, your doctor will give you the best answer. Try not to worry in the meantime. Here is an article from the EmpowHER community regarding headaches. https://www.empowher.com/headache/content/headaches
Did this help?
Best,
Kristin
