Q:

Scared to test but what are the odds of pregnancy?

My last period was August 17th (my cycle is typically 29 days but the last one was 26). I haven't had my normal PMS symptoms of extremely sore breasts and back but I have been crampy. I am now on day 36, still crampy feeling bloated and very tired but not the first hint of even spotting. My husband and I had tried for almost 6 years to get pregnant and had finally pretty much given up and after so many false hopes of pregnancy I am so afraid to test! A little advice would be much appreciated!

Hi,
I can understand how much you would like me to say that you are pregnant, but I can't. Because the ovaries and uterus share abdominal space with the intestines, it is difficult to say if the bloating and cramping is intestinal or premenstrual symptoms. For peace of mind, you might want to give your gynecologist a call.

Hi,
I can appreciate your reservation and concern about another disappointment. But, you are at least one week late and have been trying to conceive. You might want to wait one more week. If you don't get your period, take a home pregnancy test. In the meantime, take good care of yourself, as if you were pregnant. Please keep us posted. Wishing you a positive pregnancy test:)

Thank you Maryann!
I am trying so hard to not stress about this! Part of me keeps convincing myself that I am not pregnant just really late but the other part wants to be SO badly! I will take your advice and try not to think about it too much for the next week. I have NEVER skipped a period before, is it possible for that to be suddenly the case? Nothing has really changed (no major stresses, illness, etc) Also, is it normal to be super crampy with no period?

Thanks again!
