Seeing everything with a red hue

After being out in the sun for several minutes without sun glasses, I came inside and noticed that everything I looked at had a red/orange hue, including the walls. This lasted maybe a minute or two.

Intense light can stimulate the retina (the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye) to its maximum response. When this occurs, it takes awhile for the retina to recover. For a short time, you may see spots or a dark afterimage/color.
