seven years ago I had ERpositive breast cancer and I took an aromatase inhibitor for five years, is there anything that I can take to relieve the symptoms of hot flashes, weight gain and occasional depression? I am not sure about bioidentical hormones?

I took premarin only for 22 years prior to my diagnosis. I am 67 years young and hate the way that I have felt since I had to quit HRT.

Hi,
Bio-identical replacement therapy involves synthesized hormones which are manufactured to be chemically identical to your own hormones. BHRT is not FDA approved. The FDA is unaware of any credible scientific evidence that bio-identical hormones are safe and effective in the treatment of menopausal symptoms.

While some bio-identical products are manufactured by pharmaceutical companies, other products are made a special pharmacies called compounding pharmacies. Compounding pharmacies are not required to report adverse reactions caused by this form of bio-identical hormones.
