Shingles is contagious to someone who has not had chickenpox nor the vaccine against it.

Shingles is only contagious in the blister phase. Once the blisters have gone, a person is no longer contagious. The contagion lies in any liquid in the blisters. If they are dry/crusty, a person is no longer contagious.
