Q:

Short period after sex-- pregnant?

I had sex for the first time about six days before I was supposed to start my period. I am on the pill, my boyfriend used ta latex condom with water-based lubricant, and he pulled out before ejaculating. However, when I started taking my placebo pills, my period came a couple days into that week (although that's usually normal for me), but it only lasted two days whereas it usually lasts for days, and before I started taking the pill it would last 7 to 8 days. A few weeks later and I am feeling a little nauseated, but I do have a history of easily getting nauseated from different foods. Is there a possibility that even though I used three ply protection, and even though I had my period on time and it was just short, that I could be pregnant?

Dear Anon,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

There is only about a 1% risk of pregnancy when on the pill and having full intercourse so I don't see any risk at all in the above scenario.
