Shoud I trust my hpt?

Hello,
I have read online on many sites that some women don't get a positive home pregnancy test throughout their pregnancy or by the time the hpt does show a positive, its too late. Is that true? I've had 4 negative hpt, the last one was performed 7 weeks after possible conception. I'm just afraid I'm one of those women whose hpt wont show a positive. Also I have been bleeding, but I know some women can have bleeding during their first trimester. From last 2 months my bleeding starts off red, but then turns brown and around day 4 and 5 the blood turns almost to black!! And that's never happened before. Is that a sign of pregnancy?

I'm worried that my period isn't really a period, but pregnancy bleeding
And my 4 negative hpts are all false negatives! Should I trust my home test results? I followed instructions well
Please clear my doubts and offer me some suggestions
Thank you!
