Q:

Signs of a miscarriage?

About a week ago I received a positive pregnancy test. Then a few days later, I began spotting and having cramps. The bleeding is slow and not very much, but it's enough to wear a pad. There has also been tissue passing through, but this is nothing like a normal period. (I've always had irregular periods.) I've heard that both of those can happen during a pregnancy and also a miscarriage. My doctor can't see me until a week or two from now. I know I won't know for sure until I see a medical doctor, I'd just like some insight on whether I should worry or not. And also, I'd like to know when a pregnancy test would show a negative after a miscarriage? Thank you!

Hi kelseynicole,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Cramping and vaginal bleeding are the most common symptoms noticed with spontaneous abortion. The cramping and bleeding may be very mild, moderate, or severe. There is no particular pattern as to how long the symptoms will last.  If your doctor won't see you now. It's important for you to see another doctor.  You should wait for the pregnancy test.  It's best to see a doctor first.
