simple ovarian cyst for 18 months

I am 27 years old. I have a simple ovarian cyst for 18 months now. it measures 3.5 cm and has been at a constant size for the entire 18 months. My Gynecologist had suggested to wait and watch but nothing seems to have happened as the cyst has remained same. I experience no pain and my periods are regular.
My doc has now suggested a surgery since i want to conceive in 6 months time. Is this the only solution. Do contraceptives help in dissolving or reducing size of cyst. Should i wait more or go for surgery.

Hi Prerna,

Thank you for your question! Birth control pills are typically prescribed with ovarian cysts because they stop the development of more cysts and can sometimes shrink the cysts in size. If you are looking to conceive in the next 6 months, removing the current cysts is a good idea.

Please keep us updated on your progress,

Rosa
