October 25, 2009 - 12:05amHi Mrserkardtobe
Thanks for your question!
You may be pregnant since the withdrawal method is not as reliable as the birth control pill or condoms.
Gaining nine pounds in two weeks isn't really a sign of pregnancy, anymore than it's a sign of PMS - at least not this early in pregnancy. It could be from over-eating or water retention. Needing to use the bathroom frequently and breast enlargement is a sign of pregnancy but unfortunately can also be a sign of PMS (although frequent urination is more common in pregnancy).
What kind of online "pregnancy tests" are you taking? Are you punching in your symptoms and getting a response that says you may be pregnant? You may be, but this is not an accurate (at all!) indication of a positive result for pregnancy. Your best bet is to take an actual pregnancy test. If you are a week late, it's definitely the right time to take a test!
If you are not pregnant, and don't wish to be, make sure you use a more reliable form of birth control, especially if you don't have a regular cycle. Since your cycle appears to be irregular, using another method would be a better option for you.
We wish you the best! Will you be ok if you are pregnant?
October 17, 2009 - 3:53pmwith my recent pregnany, well now that my son is 10 months old now. anything is possible. i was on the pile and i still got pregnant. don't scare your boyfriend just yet, get a pregnancy test. clear blue or first reponse is the best way to go, i was in denial my self after 12 tests and one professional one lol. then i finally told him, he was at shock at first then grasped the fact that he was going to be a daddy. also see your health care professional. sometimes the pull out method rarely work, condoms are always the best protection. if you have a religion that makes you not have a baby, screw the religion, it's a human being growing inside of you, and trust me, nothing says miracle till you see those little peepers looking right up at you in your arms. so but the test, they range from 10- 20 bucks in shoppers or any drug/departmet store. good luck.
October 25, 2009 - 12:02amhi my name is chrissy...my period has been late for feb and march, by 11 days for march. My period is normally very heavy, but both times my period was unusually light (like spotting) and only lasted for about 2-3 days. My period normally lasts for about 5-6 days. This had me very worried and confused. I have taken about 4 pregnancy test during that time and they all came back negative. This month i am now 5 days late again with no signs of an upcoming period. What could be the possible explanation for this? should i be concerned?
April 18, 2010 - 2:50pmthanks a lot Cary. I have still yet to see my period and it is now the end of the month. I have been having unprotected sex...my boyfriend and i have never used a condom and he does not pull out either, so every month it is late i am very worried. I am going to a physician on monday to get a physical examination. I have taken another test and it is still negative. I am hoping this is all due to stress and not because of some medical reason. Thanks for the support!
April 30, 2010 - 8:10pmAnon,
I sure hope that the anxiety is all that's going on with you. But can i ask why you are having unprotected sex with no birth control, no condom, no withdrawa? This is the quickest way to get pregnant in the book. Do you need information or help finding birth control? If condoms are not an option for you and your boyfriend, have you considered birth control pills?
You can always go to Planned Parenthood for birth control advice and prescrptions. It is completely confidential and there are Planned Parenthood clinics all over the United States. It's also very low cost. You can go here, put in your zip code and find one near you:
http://www.plannedparenthood.org/
Would you consider doing that? Especially since it seems that you don't want to be pregnant.
May 3, 2010 - 9:51amHi Chrissy-
Since this has gone on for a couple of months, I suggest you contact a health care provider. You may be having some hormonal changes or some other physical issue that affects menstruation. You don't mention your age or nutritional status, but these can have a big effect on your cycle.
Are you having unprotected sex? Is that why you are doing pregnancy tests? If that is the case, it is possible that you are having post pregnancy spotting. Either way, I recommend seeing a professional. You need to find out what is going on in case you have a health issue that needs treatment, or a pregnancy that needs monitoring.
Good luck.
April 18, 2010 - 3:32pmHi. I'm having similar problems to the original poster except I've had no sexual intercourse without a condom. There were no holes, rips or anything else. This is my second month in a row being late. Last month was two weeks and it's already about a week and a few days late this month. I took a pregnancy test just to make sure a condom didn't have some sort of microscopic hole and my boyfriend doesn't have ninja sperm and everything else and nope, all clear.
Okay. So. . . what gives?
April 30, 2010 - 1:35amHi Anonymous-
This is frustrating, isn't it. I am wondering what else is happening in your life. Are you under a lot of stress? Has your diet changed dramatically? Are you having any health issues? I know what you mean about ninja sperm with a condom...it happens. I've seen it happen. Since you sound very careful, it makes me think there is something else going on with your body that is making your cycle change. Sometimes even a new job will have you syncing up with the women you work with and changing your cycle.
You don't mention your age, but that can be a factor, too. The thing about the menstrual cycle is we expect it to do it's job in a timely manner, but it evolves over time and there are changes we can't always identify. But think about your life lately and maybe you'll come up with some stressor or hormone changer that is causing your issues.
Good luck.
