It is not too early to do a home pregnancy test...a HPT can detect any "pregnancy hormone" once you have missed your expected period, which would have been sometime around mid-March if you are perfectly "regular" with your periods. However, it is not needed since you already had one at your doctor's office.

Since it is end-of-March, and your doctor's office checked for the pregnancy hormones, then it means you are not pregnant this cycle.

Are you trying to become pregnant?

There are many reasons for a woman to have a late, or even missed, period. It is very common, actually, for women to miss an entire period one cycle, and this can be normal. If you miss two periods, it would be a good idea to call your doctor to be sure there is not an underlying medical condition. Reasons for a missed (or late) period (that is not pregnancy) can be: recent illness, excessive stress, sudden weight loss/gain, change in medication, or other "unknown" factors.

Since you already have a doctor's appointment scheduled, it is best to talk with your doctor about your concerns with missing a period, but you can rule out pregnancy as a factor.

if you took a urine test and it came back negative, I would assume you are not pregnant. There could be many different reasons why you are late and you period has become "irregular" for you. I would suggest to relax and wait for your pap that is scheduled within a few days. When you go for your visit, let your doctor know what your concerns are and ask questions if you have any. Good luck and take care!
