Hi, I have a question to ask which is my doctor told me I should see a Hematology/Oncology and I'm trying to find the right doctor to go to. I have a surgeon who is a oncologist but doesn't deal with hematology matters. I want to know if you think it's a good idea I ask my surgeon/oncologist if by any chance he knows a good hematology/oncology I can go to? I left him a message today to speak with him and with my message I mentioned it's a personal matter. If for example my doctor doesn't call me do you think it's a good idea I write him by postal mail to ask him such thing? I don't feel comfortable just leaving a message out loud asking such thing if you know what I mean. I prefer writing to him directly asking him if he doesn't call me do you think this makes sense? Please let me know about this soon. I really appreciate it.
Thank You,
Melissa

Sure, you can write him or perhaps emailing him would get you a quicker response.

Dear Dr. Kadison,
What I'm writing to you is regarding asking you a personal question. I want to know if by any chance you know a good Hematology/Oncology that I can go to?
I have a kind of problem and concern and my doctor told me I should see a Hematologist. It's been hard to find a Hematologist and I was thinking if you know someone.
My matter is urgent and important that I see someone right away.
I'll be looking forward to hear from you soon. I really do appreciate it.
Sincerely,

Is this a good letter I wrote to him?
I'm going to mail it on Monday meanwhile I want to be sure what I wrote is good and if my vocabulary and grammar are right?
Thank You,

Hi Melissa6666,
Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community.
I think it's a great idea to ask your oncology doctor if he can recommend a hematolgy specialist. You can definitely call, email or write a letter. With the call, if you don't get a call back in a day or two, I would call back and if you have to leave another message, indicate that you are looking for a specialist. I understand not wanting to divulge all your personal business over a voicemail.
I hope this helps,
Be well,

Hi, Thanks for your reply. The only thing I did is I called the secretary today and I asked if I can talk to my doctor and she said what is it for and I said I have a personal question to ask and she took down my number and said I will give him the message. As a doctor I know he's busy and through message I don't want to leave a message saying especially the words of hematology/oncology, I hope you know what I mean from here. I was thinking if he doesn't call me and by Monday do you think is the right time that I write him a letter regarding such question I have? Please let me know soon.

Melissa
