Thanks for your question and welcome!

Unfortunately, this kind of question is up to you and your doctor - the hardware used (meaning the man-made ball and socket) depends on what kind of replacement you need. Do you need a "posterior" procedure or an "anterior" one? The latter being far less invasive.

It will depend on your level of hip deterioration and since you are 57, your doctors may feel that exercise and mediation may work instead. However, if you do get a replacement, your age will be to your benefit as recovery will probably be a lot easier than if you were older.
