Is Surgeon General Nominee Too Fat??

When Fox news recently called out President Obama's nominee for Surgeon General, Dr. Regina Benjamin, as being "too fat" for the job, I about fell out of my chair. (And I couldn't help but wonder if they would have gone there if she'd been a white male....) Sure, it's true that we're in an era of obesity and we've got a lot of work to do on that front, especially among our kids. But to speculate on whether the Surgeon General nominee wears a size 16 or 18 is completely absurd.

Here are a couple of articles on this latest craziness in our media:

I think that we would want our Surgeon General to represent good health. But, aren't qualifications important? She could be extremely fit, for all we know.
