taking 2 kinds of antibiotics while taking birth control pills

hi there, i was wondering what will happened if you take 2 kinds of antibiotics while taking birth control pills..

yesterday (Monday, March 12, 2012), i went to the dentist and took out 2 teeth..my dentist gave me 2 kinds of antibiotics..metronidazole and amoxycillin..i forgot to tell here that i am on a birth control pill..i am taking the medicine since yesterday and will end up taking them tomorrow..

im on my 3rd week of meliane and still have 5 more tablets to finished..is it safe to have an unprotected intercourse this week or should i use another method of birth control?and what would be the effects of these drugs to my body?

Hi Anonymous,

Whenever you are on antibiotics, you should be using a back up method of birth control such as a condom because it has been proven that birth control pills become less effective during antibiotic therapy.

hello..been on an antibiotics last week..and i had sex with my partner during my 3rd week of birth control pills with condoms..and now, im on my 3rd day of my period (including the first day it came)..but it's really light..and it's dark brown..is it because of the antibiotics?

im going to start a new pack on Monday again..my boyfriend and i will see each other on Monday..so, i want to ask if it safe to have sex without using another form of birth control method on that day? i'm gonna take my first pill for that day but not in my usual time this time..im gonna take it before we do the thing..i usually taking my pill @ 7pm..

what will you suggest?since it's gonna be our last meeting..should i continue taking the birth control pills or take a morning pill instead?
