To piggyback on Rosa's comments, I too have used lemon (and sometimes honey) in warm water during a 5-week detoxification and it certainly helped. But, for it to work best I kept it to first thing in the morning and right before bed, no meals excluded. You might also like to try a ginger spice tea during one or two daily meals (I usually chose lunch) to aid digestion.

Honey is an said to be good for lowering of cholesterol levels and weight loss. It mobilizes the extra deposited fat in the body allowing it to be utilized as energy for normal functions and purifying the blood as a result. Lemons are good for detoxification-- so I don't see anything harmful about the two combined-- as long as you're not taking them multiple times a day or substituting your meals with honey and lemon.
