ask: Is TB a highly contagious disease?

There were TB hospitals in the 1940s. Were they sanatoriums to keep patients from spreading the disease?

Thanks for your question! Yes, TB is very contagious, especially in enclosed areas (like planes, classrooms etc). Sanitariums were used for both isolation and convalescence.
