I'm a teenage boy 16 years old 5'4 and 108 lbs. I'm starting to change my lifestyle to becoming a healthy person. And I Really want to add weight cause I feel like I'm a very thin person and small. (In my country my height in this age is normal) but I feel like I'm only a Skin and Bone person.
Can you give me tips in gaining weight. Like foods that should I Eat, Routines must I do every morning (Like drinking a glass of water every waking up), Things that I Should avoid. Foods/Routines that can boost my immune system. (You know I'm a COMEDIAN type person. I love to laugh and I heard that LAUGHING can boost my immune system. Is that true? And some says that STRESS can lower your immune system cause you know. Even that I'm a funny guy. I sometimes think negative and feels like that I'm Depressed.) So again can STRESS and LAUGHING can lower/boost my immune system? I will wait for some reply and thank you for answers :)
PS: Sorry for my Grammar.

Hello kentonss,

Glad that you are thinking about living a healthy lifestyle at your age. Good habits, like eating a well-balanced lifestyle, exercising regularly and managing stress levels will benefit you as you grown older.

Have you recently had a physical exam with your physician? If so, did the doctor comment that you were too thin?
Frankly, with obesity reaching epidemic levels, being slender is not a bad thing.

Eat a well-balanced diet. To maintain healthy body weights, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2010 suggest 16-year-old boys need 2,400 to 3,200 calories daily.

The Institute of Medicine suggests 16-year-old teens obtain 45 to 65 percent of their calorie intake from carbohydrates. Choose your carbs wisely by including plenty of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, whole grains and low-fat dairy foods in your diet.

Your body type may be slender versus muscular, but exercising can help you develop muscles. Please avoid any fad supplements. Jogging or playing your favorite sport can develop muscle tone. Be wise if you choose to lift weights to develop muscle tone in your arms and torso. Start out with low weights, advance slowly, and learn how to properly exercise so that you do not cause any damage. Check with your physician first if you have any medical conditions. Talk with your physical education teacher for suggestions and advice.

I have heard that laughing can boost your immune system.

Maryann

Hi kentonsss,
No, going to bed late does not really affect your weight. Just be sure that you are getting at least 8 hours of sleep for good overall health.

Maryann
