Q:

Today I am 46. We have thought of adopting but it has been a long waiting process. In the waiting time we have taken in a couple of foster children. This has really made want my own child more and more. What are the problems at my age? Risks? Costs.

Hi Labbond,
Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. Happy Birthday first and foremost. Pregnancy into the 40s is not so uncommon. There may be some issues with egg production as the older we get the less we produce.

Since every woman is different, you should consult your physician as he/she will be able to provide you with hormone testing, etc. I also found this website that may be helpful http://www.pregnancyetc.com/pregnancy-in-your-40s.

Hope this helps, please keep us posted and good luck.

Missie
