Q:

Two periods then sex

This month I had my period only 12 days apart from my previous period, I assume this was caused due to a hormonal imbalance since I've been really stressed out lately. Yesterday I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend, but he came outside. Since, in theory it would have been my fertile days from my original period, could there be a chance of pregnancy? Also, what happens with your ovulation during this inbalance? Thanks

Guide

Hi Anon and thanks for your question.

It's not clear what you mean when you say your boyfriend came outside. Pregnancy is caused by semen getting inside the vagina. If there is a chance that his semen entered your vagina then, yes, there is a risk of pregnancy.

Understanding ovulation is complex. Please see this page on Frequently Asked Questions about Ovulation from the American Pregnancy Association.

Hope that helps,

Pam
