Q:

week early, 5 days of brown spotting/discharge

Last month's period was late and short, prior to the period there was some brown spotting. This month, a full week before my scheduled period, I have had 5 full days of brown discharge, some clumps in it, but not always. This has been accompanied by cramping, nausea and tiredness as well as a low fever and a rash on my face.

I am on birth control, and am sexually active. I am wondering if this could be a sign of pregnancy, miscarriage, or a result of the birth control not working well with my body.

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. If you are having a period, you are not pregnant. Answering your question if there was a possible miscarriage, I would say there is a possibility but I would guess that you probably did not. This is only my opinion but if you continue to have concerns or are experiencing any pain, you should seek assistance from your physician.

I hope this helps.

Missie
