Hi sandra cos,

Thank for clarifying that. I didn't realize that your period stopped on the third day.

Usually, you can have some dark brown vaginal discharge at the end of your period or the start of the next one. This is old blood that is left behind in the uterus. I don't know why you would have this on the third day of your period.

For peace of mind, give your gynecologist a call to report this.

Maryann

Guide

Hello sandra cos,

I can appreciate how alarming this must have been. It is quite possible that you have hemorrhoids.

First, I need to ask you a few questions.
Was the blood bright red? Was the stool dark almost black in color?
Did you see any blood in the stool? Did you strain to have a bowel movement?

Hemorrhoids are swollen and inflamed veins in your anus and lower rectum. Straining during bowel movements or increased pressure on these veins during pregnancy are two causes of hemorrhoids.

A small amount of bright red blood on your toilet tissue or in the toilet bowl is on sign of hemorrhoids.

There is no risk for pregnancy if you had intercourse while you were menstruating.

Is this helpful?

Regards,
Maryann
