My 90 year old father is suffering tremendous pain. Had the ultrasound and is waiting to get in to a specialist. He had his gallbladder removed years ago, however they did find stones. I want to find a way to get him relief from the tremendous back pain and belching, loss of appetite that he has.

Thank you Alison. They haven't discussed pain management that I am aware of. I plan on visiting his G.P. today and hopefully get more information. I will keep you posted if anything helpful comes out of this.

Hi Susan,
I understand your need to help your father since he is in pain,but unfortunately, I was unable to find any credible sources of information regarding a gallstone cleanse. As you can imagine, there are many gimmicks and Information about "cleansing" , but none from credible health sources.
It is best to contact your father's doctor, as it is important to discuss any alternative treatments prior to use. What has his doctor said about pain management for your father?
To answer your question, the cleanse is about consuming only a tonic of lemon juice and olive oil for 3 days. As you can imagine, this could be very dangerous for certain people to severly limit caloric intake in this manner...which is the basic idea behind any "cleanse".
