I missed one pill Thursday night, in my third week, but made it up as soon as i woke up on Friday morning. I also took my pill about 3 hours late on Saturday night, which would have been my last active pill. My boyfriend and I had sex soon after. We used a condom, but it broke. He had already went shortly before we had sex. He went inside of me not knowing the condom broke, but he barely went. What are my chances of getting pregnant?

Hi!! July 8 I had unprotected sex with my husband. After that since July 9 to 12 I didn't take my pill cause it was left home and we are out of town. From July 9 to 12 we didn't had contact. July 13 I took all the 5 pills at once and had sex but my husband pulled it out.. I continued take the pill on July 13 and until July 15 only since my husband left to work abroad on July 14.. Is thers a tendency that O am pregnant now? Because since I stopped the taking the pill until now I didn't had my menstrual period..

HI, I start my birth control on Sundays. I missed the very first pill of my pack and did not realize until the next day (Monday). So I took two pills at the same time. I had sex with a condom Tuesday afternoon. I have been taking my pills regularly since Monday though. Should I be worried??

I have been on birth control for over 3 years, I never really take it at the same time every day. Last Monday I missed a pill, took two the next day, missed another pill Friday & took 2 Saturday. Monday morning I had unprotected sex & he didn't pull out. I took my Monday pill about an hour after sex. Could I be pregnant even if I've been on the pill for so long?

Hello Anonymous,

Protection against pregnancy is not dependant upon how many years you have been taking birth control pills.

Birth control pills prevent pregnancy by preventing ovulation . That is done by keeping hormone levels constant.

That is why it is so important to take a pill at the same time each day.

There is a chance that you could have ovulated and become pregnant. Wait and see what happens during your week of inactive pills.

I missed a pill on July 3rd, but had not realized I was a day behind until taking my pill July 5th at my normal time and doubled up then. I had taken the pill the 4th and 5th but was a day behind. I had unprotected sex on the 4th and he pulled out. I freaked out after realizing the next day that I had missed a pill earlier and 40 hours after the unprotected sex got plan b. I had my normal withdrawal bleed beginning on the 13th, but I was still worried cause I read you could have a withdrawal bleed and still be pregnant...on the 28th I took a pregnancy test and it was negative, I then took one again on the 30th and it was negative again but Beginning last week I started having lower back pain, headaches and today I had a hot flash. Is it likely that I am pregnant or am I just freaking myself out?

Hello Anonymous,

I can appreciate your anxiety but by taking Plan B and continuing to take your daily birth control pills caused an overdose of hormones. Plan B contains a high dose of the hormone, levonorgestrel, which is found in most oral contraceptives.

Since you had withdrawal bleeding, you can relax because you did not become pregnant. I suggest you mention this to your gynecologist and follow any of his or her recommendations.

Regards,
Maryann
