What are my chances of getting pregnant if i missed one pill and made it up ASAP?

I missed one pill Thursday night, in my third week, but made it up as soon as i woke up on Friday morning. I also took my pill about 3 hours late on Saturday night, which would have been my last active pill. My boyfriend and I had sex soon after. We used a condom, but it broke. He had already went shortly before we had sex. He went inside of me not knowing the condom broke, but he barely went. What are my chances of getting pregnant?

Hello Anonymous,

I do not think you need to take Plan B. You missed only one pill. You took it as soon as you realized it, though almost 15 hours later than normal.

To be certain, please check with your gynecologist. My concern with an ECP is taking the pill along with your daily oral contraceptive subjects your body to high doses of the same synthetic hormone, when the risk for pregnancy was so low.

hello, i took all the pills correctly, at the same time and never missed one. my boyfriend and i had sex with an without a condom, but he never finished inside me. my period came one day late and the first day (today) is very light. is it possible that it could be implantation bleeding?

Hello Anonymous,

If you have been taking your birth control pills at the same time each day, and never missed a dose, you are protected. Using a condom is a second level of protection.

Wait and see if your menstrual flow increases and continues for the usual number of days. Implantation bleeding is spotting that occurs six to 12 days following conception and lasts about 2 days.

From the details you provided, I think this is your period.

Hi,
I forgot to take my pill on Monday, only to find out about that when I was taking my pill on Tuesday morning. So I took 2 pills. Silly me had unprotected sex with my partner on Tuesday night. I'm just wondering what are the chances of me getting pregnant? Thank you!

I missed a pill in my third week. I forgot to take my Tuesday night pill and only realized when I went to grab my wednesday pill. So I took two pills at the same time since I didn't remember any earlier. Am I safe? Do I just continue to take my pills normally and take my seven day break (placebo pills)

I missed a pill two days ago, and thought I took it. Only to find out that I had forgotten to and had unprotected sex the day after the forgotten pill. I took two pills the night we had unprotected sex, as per the instructions. My boyfriend pulled out and didn't finish inside of me. What are my chances of getting pregnant and should I take a plan B?

hello, i was just wondering something as i am slightly confused. if you do not ovulate and are fully protected through the 7 day pill free week, why is the risk of becoming pregnant raised by missing one or two pills in the pack? if you do not ovulate during the 7 days, how can you ovulate in 24-48 hours and raise the risk of pregnancy? thanks :)

I missed 2 pills back to back in the first week of my new pack of pills. 2 days before and 2 days after missing, my boyfriend and I were sexually active with the only protection being BC. I did not make up for those pills but following the 2 days of missing, I continued on my schedule. I started spotting and I think it was break through bleeding from missing the pill, but it's 2 weeks later and I'm cramping with swollen boobs and lower back pain. My period is due to arrive in 6 days so I don't know if I'm just experiencing PMS or something else. Any opinions?!

Hello KGreig22,

Birth control pills prevent pregnancy by preventing ovulation. A daily dose keeps hormone levels constant. Missed doses drop levels and can trigger ovulation. Breakthrough spotting was triggered by two missed doses.

Continue taking your pills as you have been. Wait and see if you have bleeding during your week of placebo pills. If not, please contact your gynecologist.
