Q:

What are my chances of pregnancy?

I have been taking Junel FE for almost a year now. I take it every single day at the same time. However, I missed my last yellow active pill BEFORE my inactive brown pills. I got my period and it lasted the same amount of days, four but it was slightly heavier. I had sex the first day of my new pack, (Sunday) and this past Tuesday. We did use a condom both times and it did not break. We tested it for holes by filling the condom with water after use.. No breakage or slippage. What are my chances I could have ovulated by missing that one pill, and what are my chances of pregnancy?

Guide

Hi Anon -

Your chances of being pregnant from missing that one pill, given everything else you've shared, are basically zero.

The highest risk of pregnancy is during the second and third weeks of the menstrual cycle. While a normal cycle is considered anywhere between 21 and 35 days, the average is about 28 days.  Ovulation (the time when a woman is fertile) occurs mid month, this averages to day 14 every month give or take several days before and after. If a woman has unprotected sex around this time, she may get pregnant. A woman who has unprotected sex has about a 20% chance of pregnancy every month.

Hope this helps,

Pam
