Mastalgia is breast pain. There are two types of mastalgia, cyclical and noncyclic. Cyclical breast pain is most often associated with menstrual periods. Noncyclic pain does not vary with the menstrual cycle.

You likely have cyclical breast pain - due to your cycle and the hormones involved. This is considered normal. The nipple area can also be uncomfortable. Most of the pain occurs in the last two weeks of the cycle as your body prepares for your period.
