What are possible treatments for endometrial hyperplasia and various perimenopause symptoms?

I am 36 years old and was diagnosed via endometrial biopsy and following d&c with endometrial polyps and simple hyperplasia. I am 5'3" and 130 so I am told I am not the typical type of person to get hyperplasia at this age. I had my hormones tested with a blood test in June after the d&c and they came back in the normal ranges. I also have various symptoms of hormone balance, (anxiety, breast tenderness, pms, headaches, muscle aches, flu-like symptoms, foggy head, forgetfullness, palpatations, adrenaline rushes, fatigue). The doctors have me on a 3 month regimen of compounded progesterone (40mg) and will then recheck my uterus after the 3 months. I take the progesterone vaginally for 14 days and then off for 14 days. I am not sure how all of this is happening when my hormone levels were normal? The progesterone seems to make me even more anxious and I just seem to never feel good. Any insight or suggestions as to how to feel normal again would be appreciated.

I suggest that you read the article about the overdiagnosis and overtreatment of endometrial hyperplasia at theperimenopauseblog.com. In many cases, what is initially diagnosed as simple hyperplasia is reinterpreted by experts as disordered proliferative endometrium, which is a common finding that needs no specific treatment.

hi i am 54 and post menapausal. due to discomfort of pelvic area i sought out my primary. she ordered transvaginal ultra sound. result showed endometiral hyerplasia and a cyst in my left ovary. i'm also going thru a flare up of fibromyalgia and occassional issues with an arachnoid cyst at the base of my brain. until recently i'v been ok but now with the hyperplasia, i am battling to get thru the day. my primary explained that to be on the safe side she wanted me to see an gyn who in turn explained after viewing results of utlrasound, that she didn't believe i was in any danger unless i began to bleed and then she'd do a d and c. it was reassuring to have her explain that the lining wasn't thick enough in her opinion to warrant a biopsy but she is puzzled as to why i'm so uncomfortable. she said to begin lots of kiegal exersizes daily and wants me back in two weeks. i did some research on hyperplasia online but now i am puzzled. near as i can make out, hyperplasia can be a precursor to precancerous cells. how proactive should i be. the gyno left the choice up to me. did i want a biopsy now or was i willing to wait a bit citing risks with having one done. so in the meantime my body for lack of progesterone is trying to have a period but can't, cramps, and the estrogen runamock is causing the hyperplasia with out progesterone to balance the 2 hormones out. i would appreciate some feed back.

Hi Sunnylou,

Thanks for your question. It sounds like you are going through a lot, and "just wanting to feel normal again" must be beyond frustrating and exhausting.

We will ask one of our experts to review your question, and you should hear from someone soon.

Take care,
Alison
