What Can I Do about This?

Hi, I was at my endocrinologist yesterday regarding my test results of high DHEA levels and mine is pretty high and out of range. Mine is 368. I was looking up about what is DHEA and it's symptoms and I saw this link http://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/dheas/tab/test. I have most of the symptoms listed here such as a deeper voice, hirsutism, male pattern baldness, decreased breast size. I want to know what I can do to bring down the DHEA levels? My endocrinologist didn't say much about this and I really want to take care of this before I lose all my hair. Please let me know more about this.

Thanks,
Melissa

I see okay. I'm actually having blood test done on Monday for checking the cortisol levels and I heard if DHEA levels are high means the cortisol is also high, can such thing be true? If the cortisol levels come low can it help the DHEA level come low? Please let me know.

Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,

If your DHEA level is higher than normal, further testing will likely be done to determine the underlying causes.

Please do not self medicate before knowing what is causing the high levels of DHEA.

All the best,

Rosa
