What careers are out there in weight management?

I was recently laid off and am trying to use this as a chance to step back and THIS time choose a career that I'm truly passionate about. Weight management is something I've always been highly interested in and can personally relate to. So I am wondering what types of careers are out there for it? I have a B.S. in Psychology, a B.A. in History, and also a law degree.

Hi illinigirl -
I am exactly like you, passionate about weight management and just simply being as healthy as I can be. After living a life (for too dang long) of being obese I lost 80 lbs and now help others lose weight (the healthy way) as a weight loss coach.
It looks like you got some great ideas from the previous post, but I wanted to add just one more...weight loss coaching. It would work very well with your educational background.

Best of luck to you and finding your passion!!

Hi illinigirl-

Thanks for your question and it's great to see you are willing to try new ideas since being laid off.

There are many careers involved in weight management:

Personal Trainer
Weight Management Writer/Researcher/Correspondent
Weight Management Franchise owner
Group Fitness Instructor
Chef specializing in healthy/whole/organic foods

You may need to study these areas and become certified. You can contact any of the accompanying associations (you can google them) to see how to get started.

Our best of luck to you, I hope you find something you love!
