Q:

..what is the common cause for bleeding after intercourse? I am 38 years old...i am not on the pill and am not due for my cycle, yet at times the day after or evening there is light "spotting" and occassionally looks like "tissue" in the toilet?

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for your question and welcome to Empowher. It is really not that uncommon to have bleeding after intercourse as sometimes our uterus needs to shed some excess dried up skin and this will usually be the cause. If you are experiencing any pain, you should seek your physicians assistance.

Hope this helps.
