Q:

What could be causing my stomach ache?

For about six months, I've had a slight burning in the middle of my stomach as well as some slight but constant nausea. I've been taking Nauzene which seems to work but feel like I'm treating symptoms. Any thoughts on what it might be? I'm generally healthy, good blood pressure, on weight for my height and good cholesterol.

You could have what is generically called Gastritis, which is inflammation of the lining in your stomach. Gastritis has many causes, is very common, and includes everything from a virus ("stomach bug"), to food ("heartburn"), or could be a medical condition. Excess alcohol, stress or spicy foods can also be triggers.

Since you have been having these symptoms for about 6 months, it would be a good idea to make an appointment with a doctor for a medical evaluation, to rule out any medical conditions. You are right that at this point, you are treating the symptoms and it is a general rule that if your condition lasts for more than 2 weeks without improvement, it is a good idea to see a doctor.

You can read more about Gastritis at the EmpowHer encyclopedia: Gastritis. Another helpful source is: Gastritis.
