My nails are discolored (part white and part a darker shade of pink on all of the fingernails. Although they grow, they are soft and break easily. I also have just a faint moon (barely visible). I do have type II Diabetes and had heart surgery five years ago (had five stents put in).

Hi Anon

Thank you for your post!

You may have a skin condition (perhaps something like dermatitis) or you may have a fungal infection.

We have a really great nail ridge and nail damage section with all sorts of articles and explanations, as well as potential diagnoses and treatments.

Please take a look at it and let me know what you think. http://www.empowher.com/condition/nail-ridges

Your diabetes could also be the reason, you can read lots more here: http://my.clevelandclinic.org/disorders/diabetes_mellitus/hic_foot_and_s...

I hope to hear back from you!
