What does it mean to be a healthy woman?

We usually focus on our health when something isn't right but what exactly makes a person healthy?

Google Baseline recently announced they are conducting research down to the molecular and cellular level to understand what it means to be healthy. Could Google actually map the perfect health for men, women or human health in general?

Could this research help us detect disease earlier or change the way we think about what is "healthy"?

Hi Shana

Interesting questions!

I read about this recently too and at first it bothered me because it brings people down to a molecular and cellular level which is very inhuman!

But since we are a mass of cells and molecules it makes sense. We will be able to watch our bodies emerge from our DNA and see (potentially) why everything is right, and where things went wrong. We can then potentially learn how to avoid the "wrong" before it happens.

What this technology will not do is alter human behavior. And human behavior is a huge factor in why we get certain cancers, diabetes, heart disease, obesity and on and on.

So this technology will focus on "health" while the human factor needs to focus on wellness, prevention, mental health awareness, cultural and societal norms and other factors that make us the very complicated humans we are.

What do you think?
