If you have skin cancer, can you feel anything? Does your skin itch, is it dry, etc.? What does skin cancer feel like?

Hi Carrie Margaret

Thanks for your question!

Skin caner doesn't itch, nor does it really "hurt' in that sense.

Skin cancer shows itself by :

  • A small, smooth, shiny, pale, or waxy lump
  • A firm red lump
  • A lump that bleeds or develops a crust
  • A flat, red spot that is rough, dry, or scaly

Regular check ups are very important, especially hard to spot places like the scalp, the back, the back of the neck. A doctor should do a thorough check once a year.
