Hi Ali

Thanks for your question - it's a great one!

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and it literally means to what degree a certain sun spray will protect you from the sun.

They start off low - SPF 5 and go up to 100. Don't waste your money on 100 - anything 50 or over will protect you from up to 97% of the sun's harmful rays.

But SPF 5 isn't enough protection for anyone. You need at least a Factor 30 that protects you from 93% of the sun's harmful rays. Apply liberally and often - every two hours - more if you in direct sunlight, in water, or sweat a lot.

You can get a stick (a bit bigger than chapstick) for your face, it's easier to apply.

Don't forget your whole face and ears as well as hard to reach places like the back of the neck and shoulders.

Ali, has this explanation cleared things up for you?
