I am currently 23 and living at home with my family to help cut the cost down of school but as soon as I graduate I plan on leaving and starting my own life. My mother is currently perimenopausal showing symptoms of hot flashes, mood swings, dryness, etc but can this stage in her life exxagerate mental illnesses? I know that it can cause depression but I feel that my mother has some undiagonised personality disorder (maybe OCD or narriscitc personality disorder she shows symptoms of both) but she believes that all medical professionals (including pychologists) are all out to get her and refuses to think that nothing is wrong with her.
Something is wrong because every night she goes into a fit of rage over the smallest thing, then cry, then either goes to the alcohol cabinet or her xanax stash. I don't believe she has a drug problem because typically she doesn't do this every single night just more nights than most. I don't know what to do than just tell her go see a doctor. It scares me because all my life I have been with her and taking care of her. She literally does nothing around the house. I'm afraid that when I start my own life and finally move out she'll suffer worse.
Is there anything that I can do? Please help.
