While walking into the school (teaching in) I slipped on black ice on cream colored concrete and went down on my knee with a twisting motion. I did not have pain at first but it swelled up a bit and then for the rest of that week I had a bit of trouble with it including trying to ice it which caused the pain to become more intense, straitening the knee and walking. That was back in say march and were now in may just wondering what I might have done to it.

Hi Faith the swelling is for the most part gone this happened back in the month of March and now we are in May. It just feels weird walking or running sometimes. I used KT tape yesterday and it felt like nothing have ever happened. Someone I work with said I most likely hyper extended the knee. If I put pressure on the right or outer part of my knee its fine. Any ideas on what it could be?

Hello and thank you for sharing your question.

At this point it would be impossible to know exactly what is going on without having an x-ray done.  The swelling suggests that you had some structural damage.  Icing can cause it to hurt more in that case, but it still is good for the swelling.

If it keeps swelling, ice is still your best option.  If the pain continues however you may need to stay off it as much as possible so that it can heal.  In some cases however, it could be healing incorrectly and that is why it is still painful.  This is where the x-ray comes in handy.
