Would a person be able to live without eyelids? Would a person be able to sleep if they didn't have eyelids? Besides protecting your eyes, what other role do your eyelids play?

Hi imranykhan

Thanks for your question!

Eyelids are for the purpose of protecting our eyes from dust, from objects , sweat, and even light. The also close to give our eyes the moisture they need (including close briefly for blinking).

You can live without eyelids but would have to have constant eyedrops until surgery.
