What is wrong with me?

Since Saturday, I have had a fever range between 99.2F-102.8F From highest to lowest. It will not go below a 99F. My mom won't take me to the doctors because we do not have insurance. But I am starting to worry now. I eat and drink normally as I would any other day. But my mom has me take ibuprofen every time I have a fever, which ends up making me literally sweat to death, that I have to change out of EVERYTHING, including my sheets/blankets. Then the fever just comes right back within a few hours. I also have some dizziness/lightheaded, a headache that will NOT go away and occasionally chest pains. I also have been experiencing cramps, but no period yet. I'm due between Wednesday (August 19) & Saturday. Any ideas? This would help me greatly.

PS. I'm not pregnant, took one and it came back negative.

UPDATE: just got my period this morning. Temp is still around 99 range.

Thank you for coming to us with your concern about having a fever.

Most commonly, a fever is part of a viral infection that will go away on its own. Drink plenty of fluids, especially water. Feeling lightheaded can mean that you are slightly dehydrated. Rest and continue to take ibuprofen to keep your temperature down. It should relieve your headaches.

However, if your temperature lasts more than seven days, reaches 103 degrees F or higher, and the headaches, dizziness and chest pain worsens or persists, you must be seen by a doctor and should go directly to the emergency room. Meningitis is a concern.
