What's with all the vaccine skeptics?

I was reading about the measles outbreak in California's Disneyland Resort, and I was wondering why so many people are becoming skeptical about vaccines. I know this is a personal choice, but it sparked my interest nonetheless. What are your thoughts on this case? I have yet to formulate my own opinion, but I'd love to hear from others.

Hello Maryann,

Thank you for responding to my question. I was also thinking about the possible consequences and risks posed to the general public. I was thinking about people battling cancer and the toll on their immune system. I can only imagine how frightening it must be for them to know that some people are choosing not to vaccinate. I wish people would consider these situations before choosing not to vaccinate.

Hello daniluna,

Thank you for starting the conversation on whether or not to vaccinate.

As a registered nurse and mother of three young adults, I think it is important to be vaccinated. Side effects are minimal, such as redness and soreness at the injection site. No scientific studies have confirmed a link to serious conditions, such as autism, and vaccinations.

However, to all the skeptics, consider the consequences of not being vaccinated and the risk unvaccinated children and adults pose to the general public.
