What's going on with my body?

I am worried that I may be pregnant, I need advice on what I should do. I am one week late for my period and I went to the dollar store and bought and took a test on the first day I missed, and it read negative. I always start my new cycle on the 4th or 5th of the month. I had unprotected sexual intercourse on the 17th of September, and i was supposed to start last week around the 4th or 5th. My cycle is around 29 days. The night before I was supposed to start, I had cramps off and on, but no period. I also had something strange happen to me that has never happened to me before. I woke up at 3am with hot flashes and I was sweating. I had the air conditioner high, and i was wearing my shorts and tank top. I've noticed that this week, I have been a lot more hungry, irritated on and off, headaches, and sleeping more. What could be going on?

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER.  Anytime you have unprotected sex, your chances for pregnancy to occur are higher.  You will need to retake another test, which is best to buy a local pharmacy store instead or see a doctor if your period doesn't come.
